As a dad myself, I’ve learned so much about what it means to love, protect, and guide my daughter through the ups and downs of life. And you know what has been my biggest source of wisdom and inspiration along the way? You guessed it – the Bible!
God’s Word is chock-full of powerful verses about the importance of the dad-daughter dynamic. These scriptures have encouraged me, challenged me, and reminded me of my sacred calling as a father. So today, I want to share with you 35 of the most meaningful Bible verses about dads and daughters. My hope is that they uplift and motivate you in your own parenting journey!
1. Proverbs 22:6
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
Wow, talk about a powerful call to action for us dads! This verse reminds us that we have a huge responsibility to set our daughters on the right path from a young age. It’s never too early to start instilling godly values and habits that will stick with them for life.
2. Psalm 127:3
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
I don’t know about you, but my daughter is definitely my most precious gift from God! This verse affirms that our kids, including our girls, are blessings straight from heaven. How awesome is that?
3. Ephesians 6:4
“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
Okay dads, this one is key. It’s easy to get frustrated and impatient with our daughters sometimes. But this verse is a great reminder to lead with gentleness, not harshness. Our role is to lovingly guide them in the ways of God.
4. Proverbs 14:26
“Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge.”
As fathers, our faith will be a rock not only for us, but for our daughters too. When we make God our fortress, we create a safe haven for our girls to find security and peace. Pretty amazing, right?
5. 1 Corinthians 16:13
“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.”
Dad, your daughter needs you to be her spiritual protector! This verse charges us to stay alert, rooted in truth, brave, and strong for the sake of our girls. They’re counting on us to lead the way.
6. Proverbs 18:22
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”
Okay, so this one is looking ahead to the future, but it’s a good reminder that one of our main goals as girl dads is to raise daughters who will one day make stellar wives. We’re laying the groundwork now for their future relationships.
7. 3 John 1:4
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”
Is there anything better than seeing our daughters growing in their faith? Talk about a proud dad moment! This verse perfectly sums up the deep delight we feel when our girls are pursuing God.
8. Deuteronomy 6:6-7
“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
This one is all about reminding our daughters that they are the beautiful, intricate handiwork of the Master Craftsman himself. What a confidence builder for our girls to truly grasp this truth!
10. Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
I love the image of God rejoicing over my daughter with singing. Dads, we can follow his lead by taking joy in our girls and letting them know how much they are adored!
11. Mark 5:34
“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Wow, what a tender moment from Jesus here. His words remind me that one of our roles as dads is to bolster our daughters’ faith – to point them to the Great Physician in times of hurt and struggle. And we can bless them with the freedom and peace only he can give.
12. 2 Corinthians 6:18
“‘I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,’ says the Lord Almighty.”
This verse gives me chills every time. To think that the God of the universe wants to be a Father to my daughter, and adopt her into his family? What a humbling, amazing thought.
13. Galatians 3:26
“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.”
I want my daughter to fully grasp her identity as a cherished child of the King. That she belongs to him, and nothing can change that, no matter what.
14. Malachi 4:6
“He will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers.”
It’s God’s plan for dads and daughters to have tight-knit, reconciled relationships. I’m praying that my own heart and my daughter’s would be completely in sync as the years go by.
15. Matthew 7:11
“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
Even a super imperfect dad like me knows how to bless my daughter with good things. How awesome to know that her Heavenly Father can give her infinitely more than I ever could!
16. Joel 1:3
“Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.”
We have the incredible privilege of passing our faith down as a legacy to our daughters. I want to be faithful in teaching my girl about God, so she’ll turn around and teach her own kids someday.
17. Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
There’s no better blessing I could pray over my daughter than this one. That God would keep her, be gracious to her, look upon her with favor, and flood her with his peace.
18. 1 Timothy 4:12
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
I want my daughter to know that her age doesn’t have to limit her impact. With God, she can be a difference-maker right now, just by living out her faith with sincerity.
19. 1 Peter 3:3-4
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
In a world that’s obsessed with external appearances, I’m constantly telling my daughter that true beauty radiates from the inside out. A gentle spirit will take her further than any makeover.
20. Ruth 1:16
“Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.”
This one gets me every time. The loyalty and dedication Ruth shows is exactly what I want my daughter to experience in her closest relationships. That kind of ride-or-die commitment is rare and beautiful.
21. Psalm 45:11
“Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.”
My daughter is going to be a total knockout inside and out, but I pray she’ll use her beauty to honor God above all – that she’ll be completely devoted to Christ the King.
22. Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
This dad wants his girl to be a warrior, not a worrier! I’m constantly speaking strength and courage over her, knowing God is always by her side.
23. Isaiah 54:13
“All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.”
How amazing would it be to have a daughter who’s so in tune with God that she’s experiencing his supernatural peace all the time? Yes please! This verse gives me so much hope for her spiritual growth.
24. Luke 18:16
“But Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.'”
I absolutely love how Jesus prioritized and valued kids here, including little girls. It’s a great reminder to me to always make my daughter feel welcomed, wanted and worthy.
25. Esther 4:14
“Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Just like Esther, my daughter has a pivotal part to play in God’s big story. I truly believe she was born “for such a time as this,” and I can’t wait to see how God uses her life to make a difference.
26. Deuteronomy 7:9
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”
My daughter can always count on God’s unwavering faithfulness and steadfast love, not just in her lifetime but for generations to come. He always keeps his promises!
27. Philippians 1:6
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
I’m believing that God isn’t finished with my girl. He’s going to keep shaping her into someone incredible over the course of her whole life. So exciting!
28. Jeremiah 29:11
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”
Whenever my daughter’s going through a tough time, I point her back to this promise. Her future is ridiculously bright because she’s got a good, good Father charting her course.
29. Colossians 3:20
“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
Okay, so this one convicts me too, because I want my daughter to actually want to obey me out of love for God, not out of obligation. Working on making obedience a joy for her, not a burden.
30. Proverbs 1:8-9
“Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.”
The image of my daughter being adorned with wisdom from me and my wife is so powerful. Like we’re literally making her more beautiful as we pour into her. Love it.
31. Matthew 18:10
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.”
Whoa, this verse blows my mind! The thought of mighty angels assigned to my daughter, watching over her every moment? What a sacred calling we have to care for these little treasures.
32. Luke 12:7
“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
God is so intimately acquainted with my daughter, right down to the number of hairs on her head! I want her to understand her inestimable worth in his eyes.
33. Ephesians 4:29
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
I’m trying to model this for my daughter by being super intentional with my words, especially when I’m talking to her or about her. Using my words to build her up, always!
34. 2 Timothy 3:15
“…and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
I want the Word of God to be like a second language to my daughter from the earliest age possible. Her wisdom and faith will grow like crazy because of it!
35. Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
On her very worst day, my daughter can wake up knowing God’s crazy love and tender mercies are waiting for her. He’ll always be there, as faithful as the sunrise.
